Natural DHT Blocker for Hair Loss

In recent medical studies the main cause of hair loss, at least 95% of the time, is either genetic and or hormonal. A hormonal by product, DHT- or dihydrotestosterone, is considered to be the number one culprit of hair loss in both men and women.  It affects the hair follicles, making them thinner and shrink until nothing is left.   Many researches then said what we should do before thinking about hair-regrowth is to reduce DHT.

There are many ways to help lessen the overproduction of DHT in the scalp. Some use anti-inflammatory products; others use growth stimulants and anti-androgens. However, most people prefer the use of DHT inhibitors or DHT blockers.

We are listing some effective natural DHT blockers that work well to prevent hair loss and stimulate hair regrowth:
Emu Oil :  has anti-androgen properties that reduce or inhibit the level of DHT. It contains linolenic acid which is a potent 5-alpha reductase inhibitor which likely contributes significantly to its hair growth properties.  It also act as anti-inflammatory, which may be in part why it stimulates hair growth. Emu oil was approved by the FDA for use in 1992. What we have to concern is it should be pure and correctly processed.

Ginkgo Biloba : is a powerful herbal remedy for hair loss with medicinal properties that help to improve blood circulation to the scalp. Herbalists believe that the extra amount of blood that is carried to the scalp can deliver more nutrients to the hair follicles, hence promoting hair regrowth.

Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) : has catechins that hinder the transformation of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase and testosterone into DHT. Doctors believe that catechins can be effective in hampering and treating pattern baldness. In addition, green tea is full of antioxidants that help stimulate the hair follicles.

He Shou Wu (Fo Ti or Fallopia multiflora) : is one of the many Chinese herbs for hair loss remedies. It helps lessen the production of DHT in the scalp. He Shou Wu has been used to prevent hair loss for many generations.

Pumpkin Seed Oil : has been demonstrated to inhibit the DHT formation. Pumpkin Seed Oil is also known to be beneficial for hair regrowth.

Pygeum (Pygeum africanum) : contains phytosterols that inhibit the production of DHT. It also reduces the levels of DHT in the blood and decreases the number of sites where the DHT can attach.

Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) : is the most popular DHT blocker because of its capabilities to slow hair loss and stimulate hair regrowth.  Studies have shown that saw palmetto is an effective anti-androgen that lowers the level of DHT in the body by blocking 5-alpha reductase.

Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica) : has the ability to improve blood circulation in the scalp, stop male pattern baldness, and even stimulate your hair roots. Stinging Nettle has been known to hamper hair loss by blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT.

As most doctors always suggest about natural treatment, herbal remedy for hair loss, either for women hair loss or male pattern hair loss, should not be used as substitution of current medications. Insted, it is recommended to use as alternative treatment or integrative medicines for baldness and hair loss.  It is important to talk to your doctor if you would like to use any herbs as main treatment for proper diagnosis and to rule out the exact cause of hair loss.
