Bald Fact: Molecular Signal, New Hope for Hair Growth?

According to an article published in Cell, molecular signals that trigger hair growth, which may lead to effective bald and hair loss treatment, have been discovered by scientists from Yale University.  The research identified the molecular signals from stem cells inside the skin's fatty layer of the laboratory mice and revealed that these cells were necessary to bring about hair growth.

"If we can get these fat cells in the skin to talk to the dormant stem cells at the base of hair follicles, we might be able to get hair to grow again."

Bald Fact: New Gene in Hair Loss – Non Hormonal Treatment from

This news may lead to a hope for better hair loss treatment we are looking for.  A new gene involved in hair growth was identified by the investigators from Columbia, Rockefeller and Stanford Universities in the April 15 issue of Nature. This discovery may affect future research and treatments for men pattern baldness and other forms of hair loss.

The researchers found that the gene, called APCDD1, which causes a progressive form of hair loss beginning in childhood (known as hereditary hypotrichosis simplex). The disease is caused by a phenomenon called hair follicle miniaturization -- the same key feature of male pattern baldness. When hair follicles go through this miniaturization process, they shrink or narrow, causing the thick hair on the head to be replaced by thin, fine hair, known as "peach fuzz."

What Natural Treatment Work for Male Pattern Baldness

Normally baldness is the result of hormones, heredity, nutrition deficiency, aging, and stress (alopecia areata).  When any men’s hair loss is diagnosed as the men pattern baldness, the doctors will prescribe a dose of drugs.  But so far, there are no medicines that can permanently stop hair loss and without side effects.

Then, herbalism becomes more interesting as natural treatment though to be safe and non-toxin.  And because traditional wisdom medicine schools like Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicines have been known as the treatment that focus on the cause of the illness rather than symptomatic treatment like conventional medicines

Here are some effective natural herbs used for male pattern baldness.
