What Natural Treatment Work for Male Pattern Baldness

Normally baldness is the result of hormones, heredity, nutrition deficiency, aging, and stress (alopecia areata).  When any men’s hair loss is diagnosed as the men pattern baldness, the doctors will prescribe a dose of drugs.  But so far, there are no medicines that can permanently stop hair loss and without side effects.

Then, herbalism becomes more interesting as natural treatment though to be safe and non-toxin.  And because traditional wisdom medicine schools like Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicines have been known as the treatment that focus on the cause of the illness rather than symptomatic treatment like conventional medicines

Here are some effective natural herbs used for male pattern baldness.

Green tea (Camellia sinesis) - catechins found in green tea may inhibit the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase that converts testosterone into hair- DHT.  Therefore, green tea is believed to be effective in preventing and treating male pattern type baldness.  Several cups of green tea each day is a good idea.

Rosemary  - fights the possibility of attaining dandruff by 30%. Over time, dandruff leads to hair loss. It also helps to remove sebum accumulation, which is a mixture of fats, salts and cholesterol - a factor in the slow closing of hair follicles.

Saw palmetto (Seranoa repens) – it has ability to protect the prostate, slow hair loss and encourage hair regrowth. It forms the core element of many commercially prepared hair loss treatments but can easily be obtained in its pure form. The recommended dose is a 160mg capsule twice each day, but make sure the ingredients are made from the berry extract not the dried berries themselves.

Stinging nettle (Urtica diocia) - its ability to block the conversion of testosterone into DHT- a major cause for hair loss due to hormone imbalance, is considered to prevent baldness.  It is particularly effective when combined with pygeum and saw palmetto.  Nettle root is a miracle natural treatment for hair loss. Some researchers suggest that nettle root may not only prevent hair shedding, but may actually regenerate hair growth.

Yucca’s root is used to cleanse the hair, treat dandruff and itchy scalp.  The plant is said to contain saponins which is a natural detergent.

Aloe vera bootst the production of an enzyme called superoxide dismutane and nitric oxide. Both substances can work together to stimulate hair regrowth.

Coconut Oil  is one of the few oils that actually contain protein easily absorbable into the hair strands.  In this view, coconut oil is one of the few oils that strengthen the hair follicle.

Eclipta Alba is long used in Ayurveda medicine for hair loss.  It is thought to be the best natural remedy for the hair loss and premature greying hair.

Almost same with women hair loss treatment.  However, it is debated whether herbal remedies can really prevent, cure hair loss or generate new hair growth.  Absolutely, continous and sufficient scientific studies are required to confirm herbs benefits and side effects.  Not limited to natural product treatment, stem cells and genetic treatment  also need to carefully investigated. (see Bald Fact: New Gene in Hair Loss for update information)  Till that day, integrative medicine may be the best treatment for hair loss and baldness
